  1. Secret of Calakmul

    September 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018 @ Roswell Goddard Planetarium

    Discover the mysteries around Calakmul, a Mayan city discovered by the archeologists in 1931. This full dome experience guides you through the Mayan architecture and its relationship with the starry sky and shows the biodiversity in the jungle using incredible time-lapse photography, 360° video, drone shots, computer-generated animations of 3D models and direct jungle audio in 5.1 channels.

    September 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018 @ Robert Goddard Planetarium

    Starting September to the end of December, shows will be presented on Tuesdays at 7 pm, and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:30 pm. Shows include a full-dome film accompanied by a star presentation.   3. 37th Annual Pecos Valley Potters' Guild

    Pecos Valley Potters Guild Arts and Crafts Fair! November 9-11, 2018. Parking is available at the Convention Center or across Richardson Street in the new city parking lot. It’s only a $2.00 entry fee to get in, and proceeds will go to help support Ceramic Programs throughout the year. Friday night there is Music, beer, and wine as well as light refreshments. In fact, I was just corrected... it’s a full cash bar! and a cash bar on Saturday after lunch! Woo-Hoo! It is an Art Show - but mainly it’s a SALE! All vendors, local and not so local, are there to sell their hand-made, lovingly, unique, individual, one of a kind piece to YOU. It’s fine art!

    Cosmic Origin Spectrograph (C.O.S.) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope is allowing us an unprecedented view into the vast spaces between galaxies that surround our own Milky Way. Join us in the exploration of this hidden universe as we decode the secrets to the origins of the cosmos. The show covers the basics of spectroscopy at a high level and touches on the processing of galactic and extragalactic gas. Other topics include the use of quasars as background light sources, cosmic evolution, and the development of the large-scale structure.
